I was just checking through my old emails and responses and I realized I hadn't replied to you! How very rude of me. Please accept my apologies. I will certainly go check your work out again and when we do our site revision (we are doing a complete overhaul) I will certainly add you to the appropriate category. Right now I am not sure how our new links system will work.
Thanks for writing,

To: sjfeld@erols.comDear Steve:
Visited both sites and loved them...lot's of great work! Will update Scribbles on the first week of the month and will included both of them on our Kids Corner. I didn't see a place for link exchange but if you do have one do you mind including us too? It's OK if you don't have one, we will still add yours.
Happy Holidays and keep up the great work.

From:iti2135@iti.rutgers.edu
To: sjfeld@erols.comDear Steve,
I hope that your students are enjoying the content on Bobby D's Mysterious Science as much as I am enjoying the exploration of the Mona Lisa's secret.
I would like to ask your opinions on the state of web based educational portals or what ever they are calling them these days. Do you feel that there are enough good "high quality" study resources for your students to access on the Internet?
Also, what are the positive characteristics of an educational website that would encourage your students to use the resource. I would be very grateful if you were to send me some of your thoughts on this subject.
I also welcome some of your student's opinions on what makes them want to use an educational website.
I would like to wish you, your family, and your students a happy holiday season and a safe and prosperous 2001. It's really the New Millennium this time. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Bob Dombrowski (iti2135@iti.rutgers.edu)
Dear Bob:
We are pleased that you are enjoying the exploration of the Mona Lisa Secret and trust that you will keep coming back as we continually update and expand our project.
As far as your first reflective prompt, There are a plethora high quality study resources for students on the web. Among theses are :
In the Adventure category they like Your Expedition.com with which we are currently collaborating.
In the interactive arena they like Amazing Kids.com for which they just completed three animation projects that were done for the Dreamworks contest.
These web sites allow for and invite their creative input.
However the students use these high quality resources solely because I direct them to be used for our inclass projects.
But on their own they go to sites that reflect their personal interests and youth culture: ie Grafitti Art Sites such as @149th Street, Hip Hop Rap Lyric sites, and Nike.com.
Based on these observations and my expertise as a leader in web education, I am certain that an educational website which wants to attract students needs to be designed to include the following components:
Quick loading, appealing graphics, and some interactive component such as a quiz , guestbook or greeting cards.. The site must be designed in a way that it peaks their interest and engages their problem solving/critical thinking skills.
In light of the above, as you continue to refine and evolve your site, I would suggest that you consider including some of the components above, specifically targeted to urban youth.
We look forward to continuing exchanging views and ideas on web based educational portals as we contininue to work in this arena.
Best wishes for the Holidays to you and yours.
May the real new millenium be an era of web based creativity and success for you.
ORCHIDS TO YOU!

From: Dee Hughes Dee@freewarehome.com
To: sjfeld@erols.comHi Steve,
Thank you for your interest in Kids Freeware. I did find your excellent site over a year ago & linked then to your "Davinci Delivery" cards & also to the Museum of Science, "Exploring Leonardo" which was a link I followed from your site. Then & now I spent a couple of fascinating hours exploring your site & links which proves that the appeal is to all ages. (I am a lot closer to retirement than I am to school days!!)I have now linked to your "Why is the Mona Lisa Smiling" site as well :)) I contemplated linking to it over a year ago but I was a little uncertain of some parent's reactions to the Vitruvian man, so few people are aware of it's true significance (or its correct author for that matter!!). Our site was then only a few months old & we found it necessary to be overly conservative for a while.
I think your ArtiFAQ 21OO project is fascinating but rather too advanced for Kids Freeware visitors. Our target is up to about grade 7 or 8. What I will do is link to it on our main site, Freeware Home, our Education category there covers older kids & adults.
Good luck with your projects.
Happy New Year,
Regards,
