Fernado Ferrer Opens the Celebration

Jack Doyle Director of New Settlement Housing and Tsipi Ben-Haim of CityArts joins Bronx Boro President Fernando Ferrer to celebrate the Living on Mars Mural project in the South Bronx.

Student Participants who painted the 7000 Foot Mural in three hot weeks in July 2000.

Fernando Ferrer congratulates student participants presenting them with NASA Certificates, T-Shirts and Pins. He read a letter from the White House written by Hillary Clinton honoring their achievement.

NASA Representatives sponsoring and joining Tsipi Ben-Haim Executive Director of CityArts in the dedication and celebration of the Living on Mars Mural, are Louis Peach, Rocket scientist of USRA, Bert Ulrich, Curator of the NASA Art Program, and Paula Cleggett, NASA Deputy Associate.

"Faithful to our mission, we believe this mural sparked the imaginations with renewed enthusiasm for learning neighborhood revitalization and pride while community came together to achieve a mutual goal."
