![]() 10:00 AM- Gen. John Reynolds joins Buford with part of his Army of the Potomac I Corps. Reynolds and Buford agree that Gettysburg is a good place to fight because there is high ground they can retreat to. Reynolds sends a message to Gen. Meade, leader of the Army of the Potomac, telling him that he will hold back the Confederates. He also urges Gen. Meade to bring the rest of the Army of the Potomac. 10:30 AM- Gen. Reynolds is killed by a Confederate sharpshooter and Gen. Abner Doubleday is put in control. 11:30 AM- The Union troops successfully defend McPherson's Ridge, and capture several hundred Confederates, including Gen. James Archer. |
