Nicolaus Copernicus, born in 1473, suggested the heliocentric theory.
Raised with a standard education, Copernicus studied at the university of
Krakow, then at the universities of Bologna and Padua. He received a degree
in Canon Law, with a background in Greek and medicine. While in Rome in
1513, Copernicus came up with the Heliocentric theory, although it was not
published until his death in 1543. Considered impossible by most of his
peers, Copernicus's theory was supported by
Kepler and Galileo.
