Nighthawks
Edward Hopper 1882-1967
Many of Hopper's scenes express a sense of loneliness and isolation.
This is often done through scenes of windows looking out onto a city.
Edward Hopper often painted city life and urban scenery. He also painted
non-urban landscapes of Cape Cod and the New England coast.
Much of his work reflects the rural to urban migration, the loneliness
of the city, and the unfulfilled and superficial human relationships
that resulted.
