Flowering Cherry with Poem Slips

Byobu is a six-folded screen used mostly by the Chinese.
They are usually in pairs, and used for privacy.
Consist of six seperate panels hinged together.
The painting represents a hobby of Japanese aristocrats who collected
classical poetry during the spring and fall.
This one presents a cherry tree in bloom (the other is a maple in
autumn)
The slips of poetry are called tanzuka
The poem slips have legible quotations on them
They were given to Tofukumonin, the daughter of Tokugawa shogun.
