As a printing press operator, you will be responsible for burning metal plates which will be used in the printing process. Once these plates are ready, they are placed into large printers and the printing process can begin. Printing press operators monitor the printing process and will be required to oversee any problems such as a paper jam or ink shortage.

To become a printing press operator, you must have completed a college program in printing technology or have a apprenticeship in printing. Employers also employee people who have extensive experience in the printing industry. On the job training is almost always provided.
