As a miner, you will work either in underground conditions or in an open-pit mine. You will be required to operate various machines such as long hole and rotary drilling machines, muckers, haulage equipment and front end loaders. You will also be required to use blasting caps and dynamite in order to blast holes in the rock.

WHAT YOU NEED:

To become a miner, it is preferred that you finish high school. You should have training in several safety courses and you need a certificate are necessary to work. You will also need a blaster's licence or a hoist operator's licence.

$45,000 to $52,000
