Coffee & Cigars v. Cunard
Our scene shifts to the regal and affluent environment of London's salubrious
Belgravia. Pirrie and Ismay met to discuss White Star's strategy in the
face of the competition, mainly from Cunard.
Over coffee and cigars, they discussed the construction of gigantic liners
which would excel in terms of size, luxury and speed. The result of these
deliberations was achieved in the heat and sweat of the Belfast shipyard
of Harland & Wolff.
