Neo-nazis The Holocaust: A Tragic Legacy. Produced for the ThinkQuest Competition

Just like their predecessors (passing out propaganda), Neo-Nazis rely on mistruths and hatemongering.

We forewarn you that we do not endorse the supremacist sites this page links to -- they are there so that you can see that the hate is very real and that the lesson has not been entirely learned by the world.

On the news, stories continue to appear about the Neo-Nazis who refuse to relinquish the idea of racial superiority (the most recent at the time of creating this web site being on June 17, when CNN reported on a South African Afrikaner who assaulted two Blacks).  They continue to distribute propaganda and seek support for their cause.  As minorities start to come in to their own, the amount of paranoia grows regarding the idea that the position of the white person (and in the Middle East, the Arab man) is threatened. White Supremacist organizations also abound in the United States and abroad. The freedom and de-centralization of the Internet allows easy communication between all groups.

Consider Aryan Nations, The Occidental Pan-Aryan Crusader, Zündelsite, the homepage of Neo-Nazi Ernst Zündle, Knights of the Ku Klux Clan or Alpha, dedicated to those who "gave their lives for the Aryan race." A more comprehensive list can be found on Nazism Exposed, or, surprisingly, on Yahoo.  Such ignorant opinion is the price of free speech on the Internet, apparently.  Along with sites denying that the Holocaust even happened (a revisionist tact toward history that is not unique to this particular genocide), there is a clear faction of people that refuses to learn from the past. This denial of truly undeniable proof is sad, but what's worse is that they haven't learned from the past. It is by learning about the Holocaust and history that you can make a difference and do what is right- not letting those who died be forgotten.

In the Jewish state of Israel, there is still the threat of jihad (holy war) by neighboring Arabs looming overhead.  Terrorists from groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah continue to terrorize the Jewish people in disputes over land with ethnic origins.  Although there is no feeling of racial superiority, there is still an unwillingness to cohabitate with people who are different.

In response to intractable racism, organizations continue to work to build tolerance and belief in the idea of racial equality.  The most prominent of these is the Anti-Defamation League. Founded in 1913, it continues to fight all cases of bigotry, prejudice and hate. Its stated goal is "to stop the defamation of the Jewish people and to secure justice and fair treatment to all citizens alike." The work of the ADL is far from done.
