Are accusations against the Swiss justified?
Probing the depths of criticism from hindsight.
The Holocaust: A Tragic Legacy. Produced for the ThinkQuest Competition

There has been much controversy lately over the issue of gold that the Swiss profited from during World War II obtained from the Nazis while they were ostensibly neutral.  Demands that the Swiss provide reparations and apologies have been countered by those who feel that a country's leadership should not be responsible for the actions of its predecessors.  Certainly, the cliche Swiss bank account is coming under attack.

Along the same lines are arguments that Franklin Delano Roosevelt should have done more when he found out about the concentration camps.  He opted to utilize air strength to strike at other targets instead.  In fact, news about the camps reached the US in 1942, with articles published in magazines such as The New Republic, but they were greeted with understandable incredulity.
