The VRML interface presents a different way to navigate through the solar system pages. VRML stands for Virtual Reality Modeling Language. It is a language that is used to create 3-D worlds. The latest version of VRML is 2.0, which supports animation, sounds, texture mapping, CSG and scripting.

This interface was modeled in Moray 2.5, exported to POV-Ray 3.0 source and then manually edited to VRML 2.0. In order to view the interface you will need a VRML browser capable of viewing VRML 2.0 worlds. Some browsers that currently support VRML 2.0 are listed below by operating system:

BrowserOperating System(s)
SGI Cosmo PlayerWin 95, Win NT, SGI
Worldview 2.0Win 95, Macintosh

The planets are not to scale, as this would decrease the navigability of the interface. If you would like to find additional resources about VRML, you can visit the VRML Repository.

To launch the interface, click here or on the large image above. You need at least Netscape Navigator 2.0 or Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0.
