BasketMaker Time Period
(100BC - 700AD)

The Basketmaker people were called Basketmakers because of their intricate baskets used for holding food and other objects. They baskets that the Anasazi made were so tight, they could even hold water! With the coming of the basketmaker time period came a revolution in farming and agriculture. The "Anasazi" (Puebloan Ancestors) lived during this time period, and were beginning to use farming techniques. However, they did not have very many crops. The only vegetables they knew how to farm were squash and corn. They also now had domesticated dogs as well as turkeys. They used the dog for both a pet and watchdog. They used the turkey for food. In Basketmaker III people began to produce forms of pottery, and had begun to use a primitive system of roads.
