Introduction Properties Structure Nuclear Reactions Nuclear Forces

INTRODUCTION

This section is the introduction to Atomic and Nuclear physics. This section was mainly created for those of you who cannot resist the adventure of advance physics. Normally, Atomic and Nuclear physics isn't introduced until college level. Of course, this section will be tough for most of you out there. And again, this is just a brief introduction to college physics.

Nuclear physics is the study about the properties of the atomic nucleus. The nucleus, centrally located in the atom and surrounded by electrons, is made up of neutrons and protons, which current theory holds are themselves composed of quarks. In all called nucleons, they are bound tightly by the strong nuclear force. The experimental equipment of nuclear physics are particle accelerators and detectors. Uses of nuclear physics include nuclear energy, nuclear weapons, and the use of radioisotopes in industry and medicine.
