About This page has been created to help educators use this site constructively in a classroom. Instead of giving teachers predefined ways to apply the site to a classroom environment, we are simply giving suggestions as to how the site and the information and tools within may be used. Under each heading, you will find some suggestions on using a particular area of this site. Articles The articles are a small conglomeration of information relating to some of the basics of astrophysics. Along with the articles is a section on the nine planets and a glossary containing many of the more technical terminology. Students should be encouraged to look up any words that he or she may not be familiar with in the glossary before consulting a teacher. Laboratory The laboratory section has been designed to give students a break from boring facts and forgettable information. It gives them a creative way to experience some of the topics covered in the site. The Birth and Death of a Star applet takes the student through the life cycle of a star. For more information on it, please follow the link. The Virtual Universe applet allows students to add stars to a Virtual Universe and see how they change and interact over a period of time. One way of using this applet as an educational tool would be to set up a separate universe specifically for your own classroom. For more information on this, contact us at the address at the bottom of the page. WormQuest WormQuest has been created to give the students a fun educational experience. Taking the laboratory a step further, WormQuest allows students to explore regions of our galaxy and discover information about these regions that is astrophysical, astronomical, and historical in nature. For more information on WormQuest, follow this link: Message Board Using the message board, students can communicate with other students all over the world. They can also post questions about the site that may be answered by the creators of the page. Links The links section will provide students further exploration into the topic. After experiencing all that the site has to offer, they may be encouraged to use the links page to pursue a topic that intrigues them further.
