Virtual Reality and the
Internet Throughout the years we have made many advances in technology that have paved the way for Virtual Reality systems that we have today. In 1873 Samuel Morse invented the telegraph which use an electromagnet for transmitting electronic signals. Since Morse was able to send electronic signals that meant people and machines could communicate over long distances. Once electronic signals could be transmitted the next step in people being able to communicate was the addition of sound. In 1876 Alexander Graham Bell developed a device that transmitted sound on a beam of light, a photophone-transmission. Since the development of the telegraph and the phone people have been able to communicate efficiently and effectively but the greatest advances were still to come. The Internet provided people a way to communicate by sending electronic signals by computers. By being able to communicate with people anywhere in the world the internet allows people the chance to interact with other people. |
