Apartments are larger than dorms. Each apartment, usually, has its own bedroom or bedrooms, den, bathroom, and kitchen area. One student or more can occupy an apartment. Generally, more than one student share the apartment to keep costs down.
Apartments are located off campus. While you are looking at apartments be sure to consider their distance from the college that you are attending. If your apartment is too far from the campus then you will have to have a means of transportation. See commuting for help on this subject.
Some apartments have swimming pools and common areas.
Apartment life is more independent than dorm life. You and your roommate are responsible for the bathroom and the kitchen. Apartments mean more responsibilities, leaving less time to study.
