Dormitories are like apartments except they are usually built and operated by the college. They are usually located on the college campus, and as a result, are usually closer to your classes than any other option.

Generally, two students share a dorm room. There are two beds, two desks and two closets. Several dorm rooms share a common bathroom. Usually, there are no cooking facilities. A cafeteria serves meals for the whole dormitory.

Dorms are a good place to meet people. Some dorms are even set up for students with similar interests. Dorm life can be very similar to home. You are responsible for your room while someone else takes care of the bathroom and the kitchen. This leaves more time for you to study.
