WNBA
One of the first professional basketball leagues for women

Women have come a long way in many fields, and sports are no different. A lot of focus has been put on the upcoming Women's Basketball League, the WNBA. This type of attention has been long in coming and well deserved by all the players.

The first women's basketball game was held in Smith College in 1892. Men were not allowed to watch. Women played even while wearing corsets and hoop skirts.

The WNBA led by active and vocal athletes like Lisa Leslie, Rebecca Lobo and Sheryl Swoops continue to refine the progressive image of women professional athletes in this country.
