Topology is a branch of geometry that deals with the properties of an object's points in relation to each other. It is heavily dependant on set theory and the theory of limits and continuity. Topology has been dubbed the "rubber sheet" geometry because of the way everything is considered to be elastic in that a doughnut can be bent and twisted into a coffee mug, and hence is topologically equivalent to a coffee mug.
