Sakyamuni was the historical founder of Buddhism who lived between 563 BC and 483 BC. He is seated in meditation. Sacred items were often placed inside Buddha images to increase the images spiritual potency. 5 Buddhist sutras, or texts were found inside this one. 4 Chinese and 1 Tibetan sutra were found. The Tibetan dated from around 1200 AD. While wook block print illustrated from one of the Chinese texts are from late 14th century.
