The Legend of the Monkey KingPart 1 - The Birth and Crowning of the King
The creation of the universe was a tremendous task, and many things were forgotten. One such thing was a monkey stuck in a stone, one day to be released upon the world. One sunny day, some monkeys were playing by a sacred stone that was near their home. Unknown to them, the stone started to crack. Slowly, the stone started to crack even more and eventually exploded, revealing its precious contents, the stone monkey. The young monkeys did not know what to do. They quickly scrambled back to their homes and called others back to see. The others did not know what to make of the newcomer. He looked liked a monkey, but he did not come from the same place they had come from. Eventually, they accepted the monkey among their midsts, disregarding the strangeness of his origin. As time went on, the monkeys got braver and braver, expanding their once small village to a large expanse of land. They eventually came across a waterfall that none of them could cross. So it was decided that whoever could cross the waterfall would be the king. Many died trying to cross the river. One even tried jumping into the lake below, but he was never heard from again. It all seemed hopeless, but there was one candidate that had not tried, the monkey born from the stone. The stone monkey was brave; he took one leap and had plunged right into the waterfall. But, instead of dying, the monkey stumbled upon an ancient palace hidden away from eveyone by the powerful streams of water that the waterfall spit out. The new king would have a palace to rule from. When the stone monkey emerged from the palace, he was greeted with many cheers. All his people thought that he had died and were mourning his loss. However, instead of the loss of a comrad, they had gained a new leader. From that point on, he was known as the king of the monkeys and he led his subjects to their new home. |
