Images of what the space station will look like

The newest (and only) space station that is going to be built right now is the International Space Station. It will be built by NASA. The space station should be completed by the year 2002 to 2003. It will be much larger compared to space station MIR. Here are the phases that NASA has planned to build the International Space Station:

PHASE I

(1994- 1997)

The astronauts will use space station MIR and the Space Shuttle to start building the new space station. The astronauts will bring the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) aboard MIR, which will help them conduct experiments. The experiments will be carried out so they can utilize the space on the international space station.

PHASE II

(November 1997- February, 1999)

Phase II is when the astronauts actually start to build the International Space Station. In May 1998, three people will permanently live on the space station.

PHASE III

(February 1999- June 2002)

Phase III is the final stage of the assembly of the International Space Station.
