We are participating in ThinkQuest, a contest which involves designing a web site with educational value. Our goals are to increase thought and awareness about ethical issues and knowledge of the history of ethical thought.
We have done our best to avoid offending anyone. One of our survey questions does involve a Catholic priest and confidentiality of confession. One can take it as obvious what the priest would really do. We are not trying to attack or support that position but rather to find out what visitors to our site, who most likely are not priests, think about the ethics of confidentiality in this situation.
But please, if you are offended by anything you find here, especially if it is inaccurate, please let us know via our feedback page. We cannot promise that we will change or correct it, but we will at least take a look at it and listen to you.
Aside from an occassional quotation, all of the writing and art here (at this site) have been created by ThinkQuest team 12160. We are:
Rich Felker - writing, cgi scripting, art created on pc
Emily Esmaili - writing, sketches, research
Shay Mocnik - writing, research, sketches
The logo was rendered using POV-Ray 3.0, a free and very powerful piece of raytracing software, then the text was added using Photofinish.
The art used for links on the intro page was created in Photofinish.
Emily's sketches were scanned in true color mode, and the several year old hand scanner added some color that wasn't there before.
Shay's sketches were scanned by the same scanner in black and white mode, since they did not need shades of gray or color and since the scanner works better that way.
The layout was designed by Rich.
Testing was done on Rich's pc running Linux, a free unix, since it is most like the environment of the public ThinkQuest server.
