training x losing weight

I'm a rower in my 20s and I'm facing some problem right now.I had an accident at the begining of the year and had to stop training for a while.Because of that I put on a lot of weight,which it was expected.
Beein back to rowing since may,I'm just about to get real fit again.My coach has been saing how much I've improved and he suggested me to take part at this competition in Obtober 31.The problem is I have to loose weight,to compete in a light weight class,but I'm too concerned about dieting - I'm scared that as I start dieting I'd get weak..I'm weighting 134lb now and I have to go down to 116lb.Any good advice?
