: : I'm a high school freshman who runs cross-country
: : for his school, about 5 miles a day practice or
: : 3.1 competition distance. However, I have a slight
: : problem with my stride. I often unintentionally shift
: : into a stride where my feet scuff the ground, which
: : really slows me down and takes from my energy. Any
: : suggestions on fixing this?

: More than likely, this is simply a bad habit. As funny
: as it may sound, try paying attention to your stride
: during the normal course of the day. If you notice
: yourself shuffling along, make an effort to pick up
: your feet. Eventually you'll just stop shuffling!

Thanks for the advice! I did just that, and beat my
personal record by 1:30 on the 5k at the last meet,
making me the fastest freshman in the school!
