Eridania Northwest

This site is located at 360S and 2280W. The main characteristic of Eridania Northwest is that it lies between ancient cratered terrain and plains of more recent formation. Between the cratered terrain and the high ridged plains is a system of valleys, which adds to the geological diversity of the terrain. Analysis of the Viking images supports the idea that the valleys were formed before the plains.
