3. What is our Island's Biggest Problem?

Since we have several problems in Puerto Rico, we decided to create a questionnaire, which we gave to  high school students from our school, to see which problem in our society they think is the most concerning one. The problem that got the most votes was violence with 68% of the votes. We also asked a few questions. What other problems worried them? Most of the students said that they were worried about the economy, government, and about the violent cases occurring in our island and also bullying.

In another questionnaire, we asked what could have been the causes for these problems to occur. The cause with the most votes was lack of values with 52% of the votes. Another question was, what other things could have been the causes? The majority of the students said that another cause could be something related to the person's childhood. For example, lack of communication with their parents and how they were raised or in the environment they were raised in.

The last question asked was: What is a hero, for you? The students said that a hero is someone that helps other and puts others before himself/herself. Someone who worries about others and does whatever he/she can do to help.

Como en Puerto Rico tenemos varios problemas, hemos decidido crear un cuestionario, que les dimos a los estudiantes de escuela superior de nuestra escuela, para ver qué problema en nuestra sociedad piensan que es el más preocupante. El problema que obtuvo más votos fue la violencia con 68% de los votos. También creamos un par de preguntas. ¿Qué otros problemas les preocupan? La mayoría de los estudiantes votaron que estaban preocupados acerca de la economía, el Gobierno, los casos violentos que ocurren en nuestra isla y también el acoso (bullying).    

En otro cuestionario, preguntamos que creen que pudo haber sido las causas   para que estos problemas ocurran. La causa que obtuvo mas votos fue la falta de valores con 52% de los votos. Otra pregunta es: ¿Qué otras cosas podrían haber sido las causas? La mayoría de los estudiantes dijo que otra causa podría ser algo relacionado a la niñez de la persona. Por ejemplo, la falta de comunicación con sus padres y cómo fueron criados o en el medio ambiente en que fueron criados.

 La última pregunta fue: ¿Qué es un héroe, para usted? Los estudiantes dicen que un héroe es alguien que ayuda a otros y pone a otros antes de sí mismo. Alguien que se preocupa por los demás y hace lo que pueda hacer para ayudar.
