Who we are and where do we come from?

  Our school is located in the town Ohrid, near the Ohrid lake in Macedonia. In that school are learning 1180 strudents on three languages: macedonian, turkish and albanian.Macedonia is a country located in the central Balkan Peninsula in Southeast Europe were live around two million people. It’s capital city is Skopje, one of the largest cities in Macedonia. Macedonia is a country with different and contrast natural beauties; from high mountain tops and wast, green, deciduous and evergreen forests; to rapid streams, wide green plains surrounded with as beautiful mountain massifs; to natural clear lakes and magical briliancy of sun's reflection into the lake waters. She also has a very extensive and ancient cultural heritage. Because of the great number of archaeological sites dating from the antique times, Macedonia has every right to be called - a magical land of archaeology. We come from Ohrid, one of the most beautiful cities in Macedonia. Ohrid is a natural and artistic treasure among mountains and shores of Lake Ohrid in the western part of the Republic of Macedonia. Ohrid is the oldest city in Europe and the Ohrid Lake according to most experts the oldest lake in Europe. Lake Ohrid is one of Europe’s deepest and, preserving a unique aquatic ecosystem with more than 200 endemic species that is of worldwide importance. The importance of the lake was further emphasized when it was declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1979. Aside of the lake, Ohrid is most famous for its ancient churches (365 churches , one for each day of the year). The most famous are: St.Sophia church, St.Bogorodica Perivlepta, St.John Kaneo church, St.Pantelejmon – Plaoshnik, St.Naum…. Other important monuments are: the Ancient Theatre of Ohrid, the Robevci & Uranija family houses, the Tzar Samuel's Fortress , the Upper and Lower Gates , the Biljana's Springs , the Museum on water - Bay of the bones …
