Hey we got help. Call that TEAMWORK!

Like LMFAO would say: Can't you see they're "shuffling". Or should we say shoveling? ;-)   Believe us... she was actually having fun!   You can't say they are not enjoying this. Look at the smiles on their faces!

Our way to the roof (Part I)

In this video, we'll show you what we were planning to do on our school's roof, explain how our recycled wooden pallets were modified and the process of constructing our roof garden. We couldn't do this alone, so we asked friends to help us. Teamwork!

Though, dirty and sweaty... Call that WORK!

After being oriented by Susimar about the plants that we should use for our gardens we started we the really hard work. We needed to move all the way to the roof the wooden pallets and organize all 48 of them on double lines while being very careful not to rip the black liner we stapled to the bottom of each one.

Then we started to move the planting soil all the way to the roof one bucket at a time! It didn't took us to long to realize that was to hard and time consuming.  But there's always wise people around and that's when fellow teachers told us we should us one of the most effective simple machines ever created for such hard world: THE PULLEY!!!

And so we did. It was amazing how fast things turned out to be.  No gasoline or motor needed, just one long rope, a pulley and lots of "elbow grease" ;-).  Even though it took us a full day to do so, can you imagine how long it would have taken us if we kept carrying it one bucket at a time?  D:

Uff that's one bucket, dozens more to go!

Here we are filling the buckets with the soil to pull them all the way to the roof using the pulley. There we go!   Using our feminine strength to move the buckets to the are were we placed the wooden pallets. Girl Power!   Filling up the wooden pallets with the soil. Hands on work!

How was your teamwork experience?

After all that hard work carrying bucket after bucket of soil we would like to know your experience working as a team to achieve something. How was the whole experience for you?

  • We used many skills while team working as communication, responsibility and collaboration. My tasks were: to tell when the pulley was ready to be lifted, to watch that the buckets didn’t fall from the pulley and to hold the wooden handle from where the pulley was hanging so it didn’t break. Also, when the buckets reached the roof, I took them off of the pulley and gave it to my mates so they would take them and put its soil into the wooden pallets.
Team working made everything easier! I can imagine how hard would have been if I did the entire job by myself… I think I wouldn’t have finished yet!

  • Teamwork is the most beautiful act a human being can do. Helping each other is something that fullfills us with joy and satisfaction. My experience in this project using teamwork was fabulous. As we carried the soil and grass in a human chain all the way to the roof, tireness faded away, so we kept working and giving the best of each other to save time, efforts and make a nicer and better work. " Using teamwork can brings us to the top an to triumph”.

  • Teamwork was the basis to get all the work done, because trough this we develop many qualities such as: communication, following instructions, collaboration, thinks all as a team, or like it’s said “all for one and one for all”. All of these made our work seem less complicated and it was actually done in less time.

  • I liked it. Teamwork made it much easier. Imagine having to do it all by myself was impossible. When the teacher asked us to help I did not expected to end up having fun.
