3. Do people think HEAT is a problem?

Apr. 17, 2012

Lets find out if people think there's problem

As students, we spend most most of our days in school.  We take classes and feel how bad the heat can get inside our classrooms.  But we needed to see if that was actually a common feeling among our school community  and not just a our perception as individuals.

So we decided to find out if people think there was really a problem with temperature inside the classrooms. For that we did a poll, for both students and our school personnel. It consisted on three questions that at the end of the day showed us if there was really a problem and if people had an idea about an ecological type of construction known as  "Green Roofs".

It's Poll Time!

Questions on the written poll.

  • Do you think temperature affects students performance and behaviour in the classroom?
  • What do you think the concept "green roofs" stands for?

What our school staff think

This graph represents the answer that teachers gave us. Just one teacher thinks that the classroom it's not hot.   And all the teachers think the temperature affects student's performance in school.   Of the 15 teachers interviewed, only eight know what ''Green Roofs'' are, that's 53%!!!!!!

''. Of the 157 students interviewed, 126 SAID YES!!!   Of all the students interviewed, 44% of them thinks that Green Roofs means installing solar panels in the roof, another 18% students knows that means plant in the roof. What our school personnel think?

We noticed in our poll that must people think heat does affects student's performance in the classroom, so we decided to interview the people that spend most time with us at school: teachers. They spend about seven hours daily with students, so we asked them the following question:

How do yo consider heat affects students behavior in the classroom?

What do the term "green roofs" stands for?

The original poll was made at school using the old paper and pencil method, but since we have ThinkQuest we asked our fellow ThinkQuest users to vote on on our project's page. Here you can take a look at what other students, think green roofs are. We used the same questions from the original poll.
