Objective:
To find the midpoint of the line segment joining two points.

To obtain the midpoint of points A, and B. we observe that the coordinates of the midpoint must be midway between A, and B.

This is the formula that was created to find midpoints.

The midpoint of the line segment joining points
A(x1, y1) and B(x2, y2) is

M = (x1 + x2/ 2, y1 + y2/ 2).

EXAMPLE I
Find the midpoint of (1, 0) and (0, 2).
SOLUTION
Since x1 = 1, y1 = 0, x2 = 0, and y2 = 2
M = ([1 + 0]/2, [0 + 2]/2)
the midpoint is (.5, 1).
