Most of us purchase food from stores. It may be convenient, but it is possible to get spoiled food now and then. But this can be avoided if some techniques covered in this section are considered.
Shop at Clean & Reputable Stores

shopping for food, always shop at clean stores where the
hygiene rules are observed. Buy frozen food from reputable companies. Buy shellfish from reputable stores. |
Never buy from illegal hawkers |
Buy Items in the Correct Sequence
Canned Food

| the
can is swollen, dented, damaged or rusty the can shows signs of leakage (e.g. label badly stained, tiny pinholes) |
the
can is rust-free the seams of the can are not dented the can has straight sides the two flat ends of the can curve slightly inwards |

Dried Food

| Choose dried that has been properly packaged | Buy moldy food, including moldy dried mushrooms, as they might be poisonous |
