There were seven sisters (in who we present: Katarzyna
on the left and Joanna on the right) 
and an elder brother in his family. They lived together in the countryside just
outside the city. He was quite a religious home, not a very
wealthy one. His childhood was rather bitter, with harsh
discipline imposed by the father, who would force the children to
learn to play piano. Books became his way of escape.
