fair

A fair ball is a batted ball that:
- lands in fair territory between home and first base, or between home and third base, or
- is on or over fair territory when headed into the outfield past first or third base, or
- touches first, second, or third base, or
- touches a player or umpire, or
- first falls in fair territory on or beyond first or third base
- passes out of the playing field in flight while over fair territory
ball.
Fair territory is the
part of the playing field between and including the first and third base lines,
and from home base to the bottom of the playing field fence and perpendiculary upwards.
If a ball lands on a foul line it is still a fair ball.
