One of the four points on the baseball diamond that the player must touch
in order to score. The term base can also be applied to the canvas
bags and rubber plate that mark each of the four points. In Major League
baseball, the canvas bags measure 15 inches by 15 inches and are between
3 and 5 inches thick.
