Goal of the PA Announcer

To provide information to those people in the ball park. The PA announcer is a background part of the proceedings; i.e. it's just informational background sound that has been a traditional part of the game for as long as I can remember (going back to the early 1940's). The PA announcer should not be the focal point of any game, but, if the announcements are done properly, they can enhance the pleasure of anyone in the park who wants to be kept aware of who's doing what as the game progresses.
