Player Stats
The back of a baseball card can vary upon greatly from brand to brand and year
to year, but, in general, you'll find the following information:
- YR = YEAR: the year each row is referring to
- CLUB = CLUB: the team the player was on
- G = GAMES: the number of games played
- IP = INNINGS PITCHED: the number of innings that were pitched
(.1 = 1/3 an inning, .2 = 2/3 of an inning)
- W = WINS: the number wins credited to the pitcher
- L = LOSSES: the number of losses credited to the pitcher
- R = RUNS: the number of
runs
scored while pitching
- ER =
EARNED RUNS:
the number of runs scored not due to others' mistakes
- SO =
STRIKEOUTS:
the number of strikeouts pitched
- BB = BASES ON BALLS: the number of
walks
pitched
- GS = GAMES STARTED: the number of times the pitcher was the
starting pitcher for a game
- CG =
COMPLETE GAMES:
the number of times the pitcher was the
starter
and finished the game
- ERA =
EARNED RUN AVERAGE:
the average number of earned runs per game
The totals for all the years are given. This is done by adding up all of
the categories, except for earned run average, which is averaged
