Description:Sponges don't really look like animals. They don't have heads, arms, or internal organs. If you saw one in the ocean, you'd probably think it was just another plant. They don't move around much. In fact, the adults don't move around at all. There are over 5.000 different species of sponges.
What it eats:Sponges don't make their own food. Water flows through the sponge and brings in the tiny organisms the sponge eats. The water comes in through pores called ostia. Once the sponge gets its food, the leftover water leaves through a big phole called an osculum.
Where it lives:Sponges live on the ocean floor. They live in both shallow and deep water. They usually attach themselves to rocks, plants, and other stuff.
