Shark


Description: Sharks are a type of fish that live in the ocean. There are many types of sharks. They are made of cartilage, not bone. They have grey, leathery skin and about 5 gill slits. Most sharks have 4 rows of teeth! Sharks have a great sense of smell and fairly good hearing.

What they eat: Sharks are carnivores. They eat fish and seals. Sharks usually hunt at sunset or sunrise because they can see best when the light is dim. They can be dangerous to humans. The great white, hammerhead, tiger, and blue sharks are the most dangerous to humans. Sharks have many rows of sharp teeth. They lose and replace teeth easily.

Where they live:Sharks are salt water creatures. They espcially live in tropical or subtropical climates near the equator.

Daily life and habits: When sharks are motionless, the sink. They have to keep swimming to stay off the bottom of the ocean. Most sharks bear live young. There can be up to 100 sharks in a litter. Some species bear well-developed young that are 1 meter long at birth. Others lay leathery eggs with tendrils that attach to rocks or weeds.
