Shareware and Freeware

What are shareware and freeware. Both are types of software, but what is the difference. The following table describes each.
Shareware
· Shareware is a version of a commercial product that may lack certain features (crippled). It is free to download a shareware program, however it will more than likely cost you some money to obtain the commercial product. Some shareware programs are the commercial version, however some of their features have been disabled until the correct registration code has been entered. Shareware is often known as Try-Before-You-Buy software, meaning that you can try out the product before purchasing the commercial version.
·
Freeware
· Freeware is free software (as the name implies). You don't have to pay for it, although in many cases the author of the program will ask for a donation, if you like the program enough. Often times, freeware will be just as good as shareware or commercial software, except that it's free.
·

Freeware and shareware are great ways to get the programs that you need. Just keep in mind that many shareware programs will have a trial period or crippled features. Check out the Links section to find some great shareware/freeware sites.
