| Web Pages Your Web browser interprets
and displays Web pages. The power of the World
Wide Web is seen when hypertext and hypermedia
capabilities are added to Web files. Hypertext
Markup Language (HTML) gives documents hypertext
and hypermedia capabilities by enabling page
designers the capability of linking files to one
another. These files are displayed by the browser
when the page is retrieved. Hypertext Markup
Language (HTML) WWW documents are ASCII text
documents created with HTML, a formatting
language. When you use this standard language to
create a page, you "tag" portions of
text. This allows the native Web browser to
format a page in a way that is appropriate for
the display that the client is using. This
enables a variety of browsers to display the same
file.
