West Coast:

• Pacific Coast Trail: The Pacific Coast Trail, commonly called the PCT is a large trail that begins in southern California at the border with Mexico that spans all the way to Canada via Oregon and Washington.

Central:

• Continental Divide Trail: The Continental Divide trail is a trail that, as the name alludes to, follows the Continental Divide in the Rocky Mountains.

East Coast:

• Appalachian Trail: The Appalachian Trail is a beautiful trail that meanders through the Appalachian Mountains and passes through Shenandoah National Park.

Those three are the largest and most popular trails in the US. I would recommend to a hiker that they attempt to hike at least 10 miles of all three of the trails sometime in their lives.
