Before setting off down the road, don't forget to bring along your necessities. There are many items needed for the road of life (check out the town), but there are also things needed to survive on the Chilkoot trail and in Dawson afterwards. The people who traveled this trail during the gold rush had to carry enough to survive, but could only bring as much as their horse or wagon could carry comfortably. Here's a basic list of what to bring.
