James Madison
ames Madison was elected to the Continental
Congress in 1779. During the time he served, 1779 to 1783, Madison suggested increasing the powers
of Congress so that they could tax. The money would be used to pay off the national debt caused by the Revolutionary War.
Madison also created other measures to balance and dignify the government. He later became president in 1809 in which he served
until 1817.
- The Declaration Of Independence was actually written 2 weeks before it was signed by the Second Continental Congress.
