Falling

Falling is an important part of skiing - basically because everyone does it! If you
remember that, without exception, all skiers fall at times, then when you find yourself in a
pile, covered in snow, you won't feel so bad about it.
There are different ways of falling, and it pays to try to fall the easier way! If you
fight the fall too much, you are more likely to get injured than if you had not. The
resistance to falling often comes from a feeling that falling reflect your lack of ability,
which is not the case.
If you feel going over, then let yourself go the way that gravity is pulling you. Be
sure that your most padded parts hit the deck first, if that is possible. If you feel that you
are getting out of control, just sit back and onto the hill. You'll find yourself sitting
comfortably in the snow. The alternative is racing down the hill out of control, and then
you might hit something a bit harder than soft snow.
When you have fallen, the first thing you should do is get your skis across the hill
and below you. To get back up, there are many different ways, and the best way is usually
whichever way you find most convenient. And always asses what caused the fall, in hopes
that you'll think to avoid it next time.

Do not "fight" a fall, everyone falls over! Try and fall over the easier way, and make sure that your most padded part hits the deck first.
