Article VI, Section 2

This section defines what is now known as the "Supremacy Clause;" federal law is supreme over any and all State laws. No State may make or enforce any law which conflicts with a provision in the Constitution, an act of Congress, a treaty, or a regulation, order, or rule issued by the President or other representative of the Executive Branch.
