When you're heading out on a ride you need to be
"equipped." The safety of your equipment while riding comes in the
reassurance of being able to fix a flat tire, make a phone call, or
even knowing how far you've gone. Here's a list of things you might
want to think about taking with you on you're next ride:
- first and foremost, your helmet (duh!)
- spare tire tube or a tire patch kit
- bike tire pump; compact, light-weight, clips
onto your bike (this is your way home if you get a flat)
- water bottle full of H2O (I'd suggest two)
- extra layer of clothing (for those days when
you're just not sure)
- bike computer to record your mileage (great
for scientific proof when boasting)
- $0.25 to make an unexpected phone call
- identification (doesn't have to be a wallet,
just a slip of paper with your name and phone number in the event
that something might happen to you)
- snack; something energetic, high in carbos
(for those really long rides)
