Turbidity

A turbidity test is done using a clear plastic tube. It is rated by looking down the tube and pour out the water until you can see the bottom of the tube.

This is a measure of the water clarity or how clear the water is. It is measured relative to river flow. With fast flowing rivers, you will find turbidity to be quite low since much of the sediments will be lifted and carried by the water. Low turbidity could cause fish to die since the sediments would set into their gills and suffocate them. Usually, we want turbidity to be as high as possible.
