In the history women were allowed to join the recreative tour. The were not allowed to join the race. Sjoerdsje Faber en Wobkje Kooistra didn't liked this.

If there was a female emperor of the Eleven City Skating-tour, it would be Sjoerdsje Faber. She completed the tour five times. She rode the tour in 1940, 1941, 1943, 1947 and 1956. Wobkje Kooistra is also a very important person. She succeeded in getting the Eleven City Cross four times. When she was a sixteen-years-old girl she completed the tour. She did it in 1941. She rode the tour in 1941, 1942, 1947 and 1954.

For the first time in 1985 women were allowed to join the race, although there where not many women and although after a severe selection. Lenie v.d Hoorn became nummer 140 in the classification. But she was the first woman. The management did consider her as a female winner. Just like Bette Westerveld and Ineke Kooiman, respectively second and third. In 1986 women were allowed to join the tour again, although again in de race of the men. This time Tineke Dijkshoorn was the fastest woman. Betty Westerveld was second again and Lenie v.d Hoorn (the winner of 1985) became third.

In 1997 there was a race for men and women. This time Klasina Seinstra became the female winner. Gretha Smit became second and her sister Jenita Smit, the girlfriend of Erik Hulzebosch, became third.
